Iquique skatepark
  • Urban Worlds Series keeps you updated every week with the latest from the urban sports scene.

Is this paradise? Check out the new Iquique skatepark in Chile, located right on the beach!

he newly inaugurated Playa Brava Skatepark in Iquique, Chile, stands as a premier coastal sporting destination, having officially opened its gates in December 2025. Spanning approximately 4,500 square meters right along the Pacific shoreline on Avenida Arturo Prat, this “SkatePlaza” replaces the original 2008 facility with a high-standard, reinforced concrete design. The park is thoughtfully divided into three distinct zones tailored for beginner, intermediate, and professional levels, accommodating not only skaters but also BMX, roller, and scooter enthusiasts. With its modern sustainable lighting, universal accessibility, and a stunning backdrop of the ocean, the facility has quickly become a central hub for urban sports in northern Chile, blending professional-grade technical specs with the natural beauty of the Iquique beachfront.

Vans Europe BMX Presents: “Euroscene – Paris”.

“Euroscene – Paris” is a vibrant love letter to the raw, unpolished essence of street riding, capturing the Vans team as they navigate the iconic architecture of the French capital. Released in early 2026, the film shifts the focus away from structured competition and toward the “never-ending sessions” that define BMX culture—marrying high-level technicality with the atmospheric reality of dodging security and exploring the city under the golden light of early autumn. From high-stakes lines at the Musée du Louvre to late-night missions through the city center, the project highlights the effortless style and camaraderie of the European squad, reinforcing Paris’s status as a timeless, high-stress, yet rewarding playground for the global BMX community.

Beca Ortiz has announced her departure from Lucky Scooters.

“ANNOUNCEMENT! Farewell, Lucky💚

When I first started scootering, being on @luckyscooters was just a dream of mine. Ten years later, I’m blessed to say i’ve had the privilege of living out that dream. I’m so grateful for the last 4 years i’ve spent representing this brand I looked up to as a kid.

With that said, i’ve made the tough decision to part ways with the Lucky Pro Scooters team.

What an amazing chapter it’s been! It’s hard to put into words how much gratitude I have for everyone behind the scenes at Lucky and all my teammates who made this journey so special! I especially want to say thank you to @cachatkatie & @brianjeide for believing in me and pouring into me over these years.

Lucky gave me the opportunity to travel the world doing what I love — from the 2022 World Championships in Argentina, to the 2023 Europe Tour, the ISF World Champs in Australia, Extreme Barcelona, Lucky Weeks at Woodward, FISE, Havasu, and many other unforgettable trips.

I’m forever grateful for the all the memories and growth during this season. Thank you Lucky!

On to the next chapter :)”

Beca won the gold medal at World Championships 2021 at Extreme Barcelona.

GRIND 2 movie is coming soon!

The buzz around a potential Grind 2 has reached a fever pitch in early 2026, as rumors and long-awaited confirmations suggest a sequel to the 2003 cult classic skateboarding comedy is finally in the works. According to recent reports, original creator Casey La Scala is set to return as writer and director, aiming to capture the same DIY spirit and “Super Duper Skate” energy that made the original a nostalgic staple for the skate community. While plot details remain under wraps, the film is expected to bridge the gap between the original crew’s road-trip antics and the modern era of professional skating, possibly featuring cameos from the original cast and legendary figures like Tony Hawk. After decades of fan petitions and “what if” discussions, the return of the amateur skate team looking to get noticed by Jimmy Wilson feels like the perfect comeback for a generation that grew up on the original’s irreverent humor and early-2000s soundtrack.
