LA28 Olympics to feature an expanded roster of 12 teams per gender in 3×3 Basketball.
The 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games will see an expansion in the 3×3 basketball competition, with the number of teams per gender increasing from eight to twelve. This adjustment supports the International Olympic Committee’s ongoing mission to enhance gender equality and broaden the Games’ global reach. LA28 will feature a record 351 medal events, and for the first time, the number of spots allocated to female athletes will exceed those for men—highlighting a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion across international sports.
Sora Shirai wins Tampa Pro 2025.
Japanese skateboarder Sora Shirai clinched victory at the 31st Tampa Pro competition, held at the Skatepark of Tampa in Florida. The 23-year-old delivered a flawless performance, highlighted by a Caballerial flip to backside lipslide, securing the top spot and a $10,000 prize. Two-time champion Yuto Horigome finished second, while Peru’s Angelo Caro took third place and earned the Best Trick award for his tre flip to noseblunt. The event, sponsored by Monster Energy, showcased a blend of seasoned professionals and emerging talents, reinforcing Tampa’s status as a hub for street skateboarding. Following his win, Opera Skateboards announced Shirai as their newest team member.
Alex Villanueva wins the Spanish Streetboard Open.
Alex Villanueva, a professional streetboarder from Barcelona, Spain, has won the Spanish Open 2025 celebrated in Dosrius skatepark.
He has been making significant strides in the streetboarding scene since he began riding in 2010. Known for his regular stance and versatility across various terrains, Villanueva is particularly adept on rails.
