 2025 Scooter trick of the year: Calum Connor backflip Lyon 25.

Calum Connor made history, when the young British freestyle scooter rider landed a backflip over the iconic 25 stair set at the Cité Internationale in Lyon, a spot long considered one of the most intimidating in urban action sports due to its massive height and length; the never-before-seen trick was captured on video and quickly went viral, earning widespread praise from the global freestyle community and cementing Connor’s name as one of the riders who pushed the limits of what was thought possible in the sport.

The Gap action sports complex in France: coming soon.

The Gap Action Sports Complex is an exciting new multi-discipline facility currently in development in France, envisioned as a cutting-edge venue for skateboarding, BMX, scooter, climbing, and other action sports that will serve both local athletes and international visitors; once completed, it’s expected to offer large indoor and outdoor areas with bowls, ramps, street-style courses, training zones, and community spaces designed to support events, training programs, and grassroots participation, positioning itself as a major hub for the growing action sports scene in the region.

2025 Skate trick of the year: Chris Joslin 360 flip El Toro.

In 2025, Chris Joslin delivered one of the most unforgettable moments in modern skateboarding by landing a 360 flip down the legendary El Toro stair set, one of the sport’s most feared and revered gaps; the combination of power, precision, and technical skill required to pull off the trick on such a demanding spot instantly made it iconic, earning widespread praise from the skateboarding community and positioning it as a top contender for Trick of the Year, further cementing Joslin’s reputation as a skater who consistently pushes the limits of street skating.

A new skatepark by the sea in the Canary Islands, Spain.

A brand‑new skatepark along the coast of the Canary Islands is poised to become a prime destination for skateboarders and other wheel‑sport fans, blending stunning ocean views with contemporary skating features; facilities like the recently opened skatepark in Alcalá offer a mix of bowls and street-style obstacles for skateboards, BMX bikes, scooters, and rollers, providing an open‑air venue where both locals and tourists can ride, hang out, and soak up the island atmosphere right by the Atlantic.
