- The situation caused by the DANA with floods and inundations that have caused the loss of human lives and affected a large part of the infrastructure in the Valencian Community have forced the cancellation of the event scheduled for October 31 to November 3.
Valencia, October 30, 2024 – With deep regret, the organization of the VESO (Valencia Urban Sports Festival) is forced to announce the cancellation of this year’s edition due to the tragic situation caused by the recent DANA that has just affected the entire area. The floods and human losses suffered in the Valencian Community and other communities in the Spanish Levant make it impossible to hold the event in the necessary conditions of safety and morale.
First of all, we would like to express our deepest condolences to the families of the deceased and convey our solidarity to all those affected by this natural disaster.
The fourth edition of VESO, scheduled from October 31 to November 3 in the Marina Norte of Valencia, was to host a large number of international urban sports competitions with participants from 26 countries. Skateboarding, BMX, climbing and 3×3 basketball were to be the main sports, with competitions for different categories and levels.
In addition to the competitions, VESO had scheduled numerous activities for all audiences, such as open skate parks, freestyle roller, SUP and windsurfing workshops, introductory classes, and a children’s area with workshops.
We understand the disappointment that this cancellation may cause to participants, attendees and all those who were looking forward to VESO 2024. However, at this time, our priority is to show our support to the victims and their families, and to collaborate as much as possible with the recovery tasks of our Autonomous Community.
We appreciate everyone’s understanding and we are working to be able to celebrate VESO with more strength than ever in 2025.
