UWS Extreme Barcelona closes its 14th edition with a record number of spectators and athletes

  • More than 450 athletes from seven different disciplines thrilled the public that travelled to the Parc del Fòrum in Barcelona.
  • The most extreme weekend in Barcelona ended with more than 30,000 spectators enjoying the show.

The Parc del Fòrum was once again the world capital of urban sports. Once again, Barcelona hosted a stop marked on the calendar of all lovers of the most spectacular sports disciplines and the 14th edition of Extreme Barcelona was a (double) record: more than 450 athletes in seven different sports and more than 30,000 spectators enjoying them.

Central Park, the main venue for Extreme Barcelona, saw three new champions crowned. The first one was Nikita Ducarroz, who beat Lara Lessmann and Kim Lea Mueller in the BMX Women final.

In the men’s eventKieran Reilly took gold ahead of Jude Jones and Kenneth Tencio.

And the scooter was in charge of closing the Extreme Barcelona: the gold went, once again, to Jordan Clark, with Jayden Sharman and Tom Nieb shari the poduum with him.

Central Park was also the scene of two moments full of emotion and feelings. One of the great legends of BMX and urban sports wanted to put an end to his career in Europe at Extreme Barcelona. Daniel Dhers competed for the last time on the old continent in front of the fans who saw him win the 2020 and 2021 editions, and who said goodbye to him as the legend that he is.

Another emotional moment was the tribute that Extreme Barcelona wanted to pay to Roger Soler, a well-known figure in the world of extreme sports who passed away last July at the age of 34.

Hugo Strauss took home the gold medal in the street scooter category after beating Matis Neyroud and Lucas Caballero in the grand final.

Our iconic Street Plaza also hosted the skate competitionsValentina Krauel took home the gold in the women’s category ahead of Natalia Muñoz and Laura Zackova, while Marcelo Jiménez won the men’s category, with Nacho Lima and Joel de Castro completing the podium.

The street plaza also hosted a ParaBMX competitionJack Dumper, Juanje Trujillo and Miguel Ángel Forigua triumphed in the most inclusive BMX category.

There was also room for the best promising riders: Alessandro Mudu, Javitxu de la Torre and Bastian Brey won the Hot Wheels Superchargers junior skate and scooter park competitions.

In addition to the competitions in our parks, there were also countless events and championships of the best urban sports: the Spanish and Catalan Breaking Championship, the National Surfskate League, competitions on the 3×3 Basketball track and the Freestyle Trampoline World Championship, one of the new features of this Extreme Barcelona and which left us with some impressive moments.
