BGIRL INDIA & BBOY MENNO WIN THE Red Bull BC ONE IN RIO
BBoy Menno from the Netherlands and BGirl India from the United States stole the spotlight at the Red Bull BC One World Final 2024 in Rio de Janeiro, clinching historic victories in the prestigious Breaking competition. Menno, a seasoned B-Boy, secured his third BC One title with a display of unparalleled creativity, precision, and dynamic power moves, solidifying his legendary status. Meanwhile, India, a trailblazing B-Girl, wowed the crowd with her fierce originality and seamless flow, becoming the first U.S. B-Girl to claim the crown. Their triumphs underscore the global evolution of Breaking, celebrating artistry, athleticism, and cultural unity on one of the world’s biggest stages.
AYACUCHO 2024 BOLIVARIAN GAMES
The Ayacucho 2024 Bolivarian Games marked the beginning of the Olympic Cycle leading to Los Angeles 2028, an event that continues to grow in participation and competitive level.
The skateboarding competitions showcased exceptional talent and fierce competition. In the men’s event, Chile’s Marcelona Jiménez, UWS Extreme Barcelona 2024 winner, delivered a standout performance, securing the gold medal with his technical prowess and creativity.
The Costa Verde track, located in the Lima district of San Miguel, served as an alternate venue for this special event, commemorating the bicentennial of the Battle of Ayacucho, a historic milestone that solidified Peru’s independence. This anniversary provided additional inspiration for organizing this significant sporting event.
In the women’s category, Peruvian Brigitte Alondra Morales won gold with a score of 54.00, followed by her compatriot Doménica Elisa Ríos, who took silver with 43.66. The bronze medal went to Colombia’s Nico Russi, who scored 42.00 points.
In BMX Freestyle competitions, Chile’s José Manuel Cedano secured a silver medal with a score of 83.00, narrowly trailing Colombia’s Luis Rincón, who took gold with 83.33 points. Peru’s Job Montañez earned bronze, scoring 82.33 points.
On the women’s side, Queen Saray Villegas secured the gold medal in the women’s event, while her twin sister, Lizsurley Villegas, earned the bronze. Their achievements contributed significantly to Colombia’s dominance in the BMX Freestyle discipline at the Games.

Each skater has delivered groundbreaking performances, contributing to an unprecedented year in skateboarding. The SOTY 2024 selection process has sparked extensive discussions within the skateboarding community, with enthusiasts and experts analyzing each contender’s impact and achievements. As the anticipation builds, the skateboarding world eagerly awaits Thrasher Magazine’s announcement of the Skater of the Year 2024, celebrating those who have elevated the sport to new heights.

The Sants skate spot, officially known as Plaça dels Països Catalans, has long been a central hub for Barcelona’s skateboarding community and one of the most famous spots in the World. However, the plaza’s deteriorating condition and plans for the expansion of the adjacent Sants Station have raised concerns about its future. In response, local skaters formed the association SNT4EVER to advocate for the preservation and enhancement of this iconic spot.

CASTELLDEFELS (BCN) PRESENTS A NEW SKATE PARK FOR 2025
The Castelldefels City Council is planning to build a larger, more advanced skate park that will be twice the size of the current facility, expanding to 1,500 m². Construction is set to begin in 2025, with a dedicated budget of €350,000.
What makes this project even more exciting is that the design has been shaped through collaboration with the local urban sports community. Input from expert athletes across various wheel and urban sports disciplines was encouraged, ensuring a park that caters to everyone’s needs. It’s set to become a fantastic space for all enthusiasts!
