JOEL INGOLD’S “COASTAL GUIDES” PART
“8 year old Joel Ingold only dreamt of sitting at the table with the Australian legends who came before him when he began riding, but at 21, he has arrived. Joel put himself on the map with his signature body varial at the Last Coalition in Guadalajara in 2022 then backed it up with a 2nd place at Core Open and a 3rd place at Soveriegn Of Street and another 3rd at Core Open the following year. In 2024 he got serious in the streets and won 6 consecutive street jams in Liverpool, Chicago, Los Angeles, Frankfurt, Copenhagen and London in one of the most dominant streaks scootering has ever seen. With a few video parts under his belt and additional support from Apex, Syndicate and S2 Loves You, Joel Ingold is nothing short of a phenom.
Growing up in the Gold Coast of Australia, with the ocean as his backyard, left a lasting impression on him with each winter as the warm waters brought migratory humpback whales to calve and play just off the coast. Always in awe of their power and beauty, Joel wanted to embody these mighty creatures on his wheel. With the deep navy blue of the ocean in the urethane and the core of silver grey as a breeching humpback whale twisting through the air, the Coastal Glide was born.
Congratulations Joel!”
WHAT’S HAPPENING WITH SANTS SPOT IN BARCELONA?
The Sants skate spot, officially known as Plaça dels Països Catalans, has long been a central hub for Barcelona’s skateboarding community and one of the most famous spots in the World. However, the plaza’s deteriorating condition and plans for the expansion of the adjacent Sants Station have raised concerns about its future. In response, local skaters formed the association SNT4EVER to advocate for the preservation and enhancement of this iconic spot. They have actively participated in city-led discussions, aiming to ensure that the redesigned space accommodates skateboarding activities.
Despite these efforts, as of July 2024, SNT4EVER has expressed frustration over delays in formal meetings with municipal authorities to finalize the plaza’s redesign.
The construction work is in process and the plaza will close officialy in January, for one year and a half. The design of the new square will be the same as its origins in the 80s and 90s.
