JAMIE FOY, SOTY 2024

Jamie Foy has been named Thrasher Magazine’s Skater of the Year (SOTY) for 2024, marking his second time receiving this prestigious award after his initial win in 2017. This achievement places him among a select group of skateboarders, including Chris Cole and Danny Way, who have earned the title twice. In 2024, Foy delivered remarkable performances in several video parts, notably “Baker Has a Deathwish 2,” where he executed a fakie 5-0 on a triple handrail, and his contributions to Spitfire Wheels’ and Dickies’ projects. His relentless dedication and innovative approach continue to push the boundaries of skateboarding, inspiring enthusiasts worldwide.

DECLAN BROOKS RETIRES

Declan Brooks, the British BMX freestyle rider who secured a bronze medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, has officially announced his retirement from professional competition. In his announcement, Brooks expressed deep gratitude towards British Cycling, acknowledging the significant impact it had on his life and career. His retirement marks the end of a remarkable journey in BMX freestyle, highlighted by his Olympic success and contributions to the sport in the UK.

Declan competed at the UWS Madrid Urban Sports 2022 competition, where he secured third place in the semifinals, showcasing his exceptional skills and solidifying his status as a top in the sport. In the finals, Brooks faced stiff competition and ultimately finished behind Kieran Reilly, who clinched the top spot, and Daniel Dhers, the Olympic silver medallist.

GIRLHOOD: THE STORY OF FEMALE BMX COMMUNITY OF BARCELONA

“Girlhood” is a groundbreaking BMX street video presented by Vans Europe, featuring riders Linda Grabner, Teresa Fernandez, Francina Fernandez, Anahi Valentina, and Wibke Vogel. Filmed in Barcelona, the project captures the emotional highs and lows of trip life, highlighting the talent and personalities of these female athletes. The video showcases a casual and effortless filming style, evoking a nostalgic 90s/Y2K vibe.

The NORDIC SCOOT CHAMPIONSHIP 2024 concluded with an exhilarating display of talent and determination, as riders from across the Nordic region competed fiercely for the top spots:

Cote competed at UWS Extreme Barcelona 2021, finishing in 7th place, and MUS 2021, in 8th place.
